I have tons of hamburger recipes. Ground beef is my husband’s favorite kind of meat, and he can eat in just about any fashion. We really like Texas hamburgers. Like everything in the Lone Star State, these hamburgers are big and bold!
Texas Burgers Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds ground chuck
- ½ cup crushed saltines
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons Texas Pete hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 thick slices pepper jack cheese
- 8 slices Texas toast
- Garlic butter
- Olive oil
- Julienned onions
- Green bell pepper strips
- Barbecue sauce
Directions: Combine ground chuck, cracker crumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Texas Pete, Liquid Smoke, salt, and pepper. Form into four square patties so that they’ll fit the slices of Texas toast.
Grill burger patties to desired doneness. While burgers are still hot, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
Spread Texas toast with garlic butter and broil in oven until brown. Place a patty on each of four toast slices.
Drizzle olive oil in a skillet and sauté onions and bell peppers until tender. Pile them on top of the burgers. Top with barbecue sauce and another toast slice. Enjoy!
