About a month ago, I said goodbye to my standard charcoal smoker and purchased the Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse. I had high hopes and really wanted a smoker that was easier to use and cleaner than the charcoal version. Luckily, I haven’t been disappointed.
The Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse is easy to use, easy to clean, and allows me to create a wide variety of flavorful dishes for my family. My wife, who runs an intuitive eating blog, has been raving to her blog visitors about the fantastic flavor I’ve been able to achieve with the food I’ve been smoking. Some of our favorites so far have been baby back ribs — they were amazing! We hope to do lots of smoked veggies when the summer rolls around; right now, our choices are limited (we like to eat on-season), so I’ve been sticking to meat mostly.
One of the best features is the ability to use the smoker without any babysitting. With my charcoal smoker, I had to watch it and make sure nothing went wrong. With the electric smoker, I can set a timer and have most of the smoking happen automatically. I like to check it every few hours and add additional wood chips (pre-flavored), but other than that, I don’t really have to do anything. I think this will come in really handy when the weather continues to get colder. As an Ohio resident, we see some pretty harsh winters.
If you’re looking for an easier way to smoke food and use a smoker fairly regularly, I think you would really enjoy the Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse. It would make a great Christmas gift! It typically retails for just under $300, but the 30inch model is on sale at Amazon.com right now for only $173.54 (with free shipping).
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Happy BBQ’ing (and smoking).
